International Whores’ Day (IWD) commemorates the 1975 occupation of Saint-Nizier Church in Lyon by sex workers protesting police violence and criminalization. Each year it’s observed globally through gatherings, protests, performances, education, art and other community events that center sex worker voices and organizing.

The Anchorage Police Department is fighting a pair of state bills that would criminalize cops who have “sexual contact” with people under investigation.
