Attention sex workers and activists, if you apply for this diversion program grant, you are taking blood money that will cause thousands of US sex workers to be arrested.
COYOTEri Mission: We oppose Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion. Decriminalization is empowering whereas LEAD places people in a cycle of punitive and social services. While we support DECRIM, we vehemently oppose all forms of human trafficking and child prostitution. The victims of these crimes deserve our compassion and support; those who exploit others in such a manner deserve severe punishment. Our goal is to reduce harm by education and decriminalizing indoor consensual sex work between consenting adults.
COYOTE: Remember the cops get to decide who gets LEAD and who goes to jail.Part of the funding goes to the police so they can go find clients for case managers who don’t have any more services than the public shelter list and at most they will get you on a long waiting list for temporary transitional housing. Ironically I can get people on this list without involving the police. This is much like the trafficking NGO who are funded at a billion a year while they don’t provide any services to “people involved in the sex industry”
Open Society and their puppets are actively lobbying sex worker rights led organizations with this bullshit. Past impacts of LEAD law enforcement assisted diversion program. It started with a 25 pilot program grant in Seattle for drug offenders and quickly expanded to include sex workers in CA and soon after there was 32 million of our tax dollars the table for diversion programs for prostitutes. None of these programs will pay your rent or feed your kids, but they do create jobs for privileged people, that have thrown their own communities under the bus. This is an expansion of the prison industrial complex. We will start a wall of shame for any US sex worker rights org that takes this blood money
Watch this video of sex workers testifying in hearings explaining how the cops are robbing raping and assaulting them and the legislators just insist they will use good cops. SB1110 CA LEAD law enforcement assisted diversion testimony
Coyote RI Mission Statement
Indoor sex work was decriminalized in Rhode Island in 1979 due to Margo St.James filing a class action suit to challenge the states prostitution laws and the case was dismissed after a federal judge revised Rhode Island prostitution laws. However in 2009 Rhode Island voted back in to criminalize all prostitution, so we call back into action Coyote Rhode Island (Call Off Your Old Tired Ethics).
While we oppose society’s Moral Witch Hunt against us and laws that criminalize us, we are aware that sex workers must live in the real world. At it’s best, that world disrespects and ostracizes us; at it’s worst, it seeks to exploit and even harm us.
The Rhode Island chapter of Coyote is here to offer a safe harbor from that world. We believe adult providers can make the best choices for themselves without interference from law enforcement on the one hand nor do-gooders who want to “help” us against our will on the other hand. If you need resources and support you will find that here. If you choose to leave this business, we seek to provide you information on the best resources that can assist you transition to another lifestyle. We respect each provider’s right to choose for herself.
We vehemently oppose all forms of human trafficking and child prostitution. The victims of these crimes deserve our compassion and support; those who exploit others in such a manner deserve severe punishment. We advocate for laws that make sense to protect our youth rather than continuing the Moral Witch Hunt against consenting adults.
Our goal is to reduce harm by education and decriminalizing indoor consensual sex work between consenting adults.
